Heyyy. Welcome back to my blog šš
Below, I listed ways and things to do to protect your natural hair. If you want to retain your length and have a healthy hair you should try doing these:
1. Pre-shampoo your hair: Start out with a pre-shampoo process. During this process, youāll use an oil (such as olive oil or coconut oil) to protect your strands before shampooing. This process helps to preserve the hair, especially during the shampooing process.
2. Deep-condition your hair: Include a deep conditioner into your weekly hair care regimen. Using a deep conditioning treatment will hydrate your naturally dry hair and can help make it smooth, frizz-free, and more manageable.
3. Oil your strands: Use a lightweight oil on your hair. Hair oil can help to repair the hairās lipid layer, improve resilience, and reduce frizz.
4. Use leave-in conditioners: Natural hair tends to get on the dryer side, making it a necessity to moisturize your strands to replenish it. Try a leave-in conditioner that works to keep your hair frizz-free and manageable.
5. Continue your key products: No matter your hair texture, using too many products at a time can wreak havoc on your strands.
Use a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner that strengthens and nourishes your hair.
Moisturize your hair from inside out by drinking a lot of water.
6. Teasing hair may cause damage: It may be tempting to tease to urge volume, especially when youāre adding volume to your wash and go styles, but this might cause tangles and damage to your natural hair if you are doing it incorrectly.
7. Try to not use heat to style your hair: If youāre on a healthy hair journey, stay away from heat styling as much as possible and air-dry your hair whenever youāll be able to.
If youāve got to use a blowdryer or flat iron, make certain to seal your strands with a heat protectant spray. Heat damaged natural hair is often a pain to take care of so protect your hair to avoid damage to your hair.
8. Donāt pull or tug at your hair when detangling. Too much tugging or pulling at your hair will cause it to break or split.
Be kind to your hair by wearing a protective (non-elastic) hair tie or a shawl. If you wear a wrap or scarf, make sure to not tug too hard at the root. When detangling your hair, use a detangling brush or a wide-tooth comb and detangle from the ends up. Never Detangle your hair when itās dry because itāll break.
9. Protect hair at nighttime. Even your strands need some rest. At night, use a silk scarf or sleep on a silk pillowcase. This helps protect your hair from breakage. Silk also helps you keep moisture in your hair while you sleep.
