Hey!!! š Welcome to my blog Hair pride and this is my first post and Iāll be talking about some basic facts about hair today.
So according to The American Academy of Dermatology, `hair grows about 1/2 inch per month on average. That's a grand total of about 6 inches per year for the hair on your headā š¤© (thatās crazy right but what is more crazy is that your hair can actually grow more than 6 inches a yearš®š® or less than 6 inches it all depends on how you take care of it)
Well our head has about 100,000 follicles and as we age, some follicles stop producing hair, which is how baldness or hair thinning occurs. šš
How fast your hair grows will depend on your:
Genetics
specific hair type
overall health
Donāt get me wrong though if in your family nobody has long hair, it doesnāt mean you canāt get long hair. You might have to put in extra effort and time in taking care of your hair to get desired results. š¤š©š½āš¦±
The stages of hair growth
Hair grows in three stages, and each strand of hair follows its own timeline. These three stages are:
anagen: active growth phase of hair that lasts 2-8 years
catagen: transition phase where hair stops growing, lasts 4-6 weeks
telogen: resting phase where hair falls out, lasts 2-3 months
The average scalp has 90-95% of the hair follicles in anagen phase. This means about 5-10 percent are in the telogen phase, which accounts for the 100-150 hairs that fall out every day.
It might interest you to know that
"The flatter the hair shaft becomes, the curlier hair gets" āØšø
Another interesting fact????
"The hair follicle shape determines curl pattern, the hair follicle size determines thickness. While the circumference of the hair follicle expands, so does the thickness of the hair follicle".
Thank you for taking your time to go through this. Leave a comment below or you can send a live chat and Iāll reply you. š¤āØšøāŗļø
